8th grade students researched each topic in history as described in the lyrics of Billy Joelâs song “We didn’t start the fire…”and wrote a summary of the event. Students then created a visual slide for each topic using Google Slides. Images were placed into iMovie to create this video. Students also printed out each slide to create a QR code display in school. Students then recorded an audio file of their summary in Garage Band or on their own phone. Audio files were uploaded to our school website creating a URL. Using a Google Sheets template, URLs were converted to QR codes, printed, and placed on the images in the school display. A free app called âi-nigmaâ on school iPods allows parents and students to scan the QR codes and hear a narration about each topic in history.
