Week of Code was a big success. All the way from Pre-k 3 to the 8th grade.
Pre-k 3 and 4 did the Daisy the Dinosaur app and once they got the hang of it they seemed to be having a lot of fun using the command functions to make Daisy grow, shrink, jump, roll and spin. Our 8th graders also came in to assist Prek-3 which was a big help, as well as Kindergarten. 2nd graders also started to code with Daisy the Dinosaur. They were able to use code through the many levels of the challenge mode. They loved it so much we are going to continue coding next week on code.org. a more advanced coding website.
We used Code.org/Hour of Code in Grades 3 – 5th. We first watched a short video on how computer science is used in everything we do today and how it is changing the world. On the website code.org they went on to complete the Candy Quest challenge by using coding puzzles to navigate characters they created. We will continue to code next week as well as other times throughout the school year. The kids seemed to really enjoy and have fun while learning to code.
